Solar energy is not only renewable but also very versatile. Solar thermal collectors can be used to heat pools and spas while solar photovoltaic panels can run the circulation pumps.
California Solar offers custom-designed solar packages to reduce the operating costs of your pool and let you enjoy it for more days during the year.
Solar Pool Pumps
A solar pool pump can dramatically cut down the operating costs of your pool. California Solar supplies the highest quality solar pumps available on the market; the pumps use a DC brushless motor for high efficiency and reliability, and are connected to the solar photovoltaic panels via a controller. The controller monitors the system, controls the pump speed and optimizes the amount of water pumped based on the solar power available. In most pool applications all the energy required for water filtration can be supplied by solar panels.
- Cost effective system with fast pay back
- Longer life expectancy than standard AC motors
- Quiet and efficient
- Speed controllable to match the pool size exactly
- Smart modular design for simple and cost effective servicing and repair
- Fast and simple installation, direct replacement for an existing pool pump
Solar Pool Heating
Solar pool heating systems dramatically reduce annual pool heating costs, and are an excellent return on investment over the 25 year life of the system. Solar pool heating is one of the most cost-effective ways to utilize renewable energy, it is used all over the world, and is a great way to significantly reduce your carbon footprint.
Typically our solar pool heating systems include unglazed solar thermal collectors; the high-efficiency collectors are manufactured on a state of the art manufacturing line and are fabricated from a propylene copolymer with stabilizer combination, providing long term resistance to heat and light. They are made of durable, lightweight polypropylene that lasts for 20+ years yet won’t harm the pool or equipment. The collectors will be piped to and will integrate with the pool’s pump/filtration system. Solar pool heating systems using unglazed collectors have been installed for 30 years all around the world, and is proven and tested technology. These types of solar thermal systems are efficient, simple in design and therefore very cost effective, and are maintenance-free.
- Warmer pool for a longer period
- Effective, simple and reliable system
- Virtually maintenance free
- Environmentally responsible investment
- Increased property value
Solar Pool Covers
Swimming pools lose heat in a variety of ways, but evaporation is by far the largest source of energy loss at upwards of 70%! Outdoor but also indoor pools face the same problem which can be easily reduced using a simple and inexpensive solar cover. Pool covers and blankets vary in material and color depending on performances required and price. They can be placed over the pool manually or with the help of manual or automatic reels. Liquid pool cover systems are also available and 100% automated.
- Save energy and keep the pool warmer
- Conserve water by reducing the amount of make-up water needed
- Reduce the pool’s chemical consumption
- Reduce cleaning time by keeping dirt and other debris out of the pool
